Sebastian Bednarek在美国科学院院士Natasha Raiknal教授实验室取得博士学位，并在诺贝尔奖得主Randy Schekman教授实验室接受博士后训练，2010年升任University of Wisconsin-Madison生化系教授。他对植物生长发育有着深入的研究和深刻的认识，尤其是植物细胞关键的生命活动过程：胞质分离与细胞扩张。他致力于研究调控细胞生长的Clathrin-coated vesicle trafficking, 鉴定了Dynamin-related proteins,SCD complex等关键作用因子在植物生长过程中的作用，成绩斐然。在国际一流杂志如Cell, plant cell, current biology上发表40多篇研究论文，17篇高水准Review和书的章节。他目前是The Plant Cell，以及Frontiers in Plant Science的Co-Editor。
