本人一直从事水稻籼粳亚种间杂种优势的有效利用。主要包括新的籼粳交杂种不育基因的发掘、定位、克隆与功能研究以及育种利用。发表SCI论文22篇,其中以第一作者在Developmental Cell、Planta、Mol. Breeding和Euphytica等杂志发表SCI论文7篇。首次在植物中发现了能降解代谢植物激素IAA的酶,第一次从生化水平上证明DAO蛋白直接降解底物生长素IAA,从而精确调控体内生长素的动态平衡,进而调控植物花药发育和果实起始等一系列生殖发育进程。2012年获南京农业大学首届“钟山学术新秀”称号。作为第2完成人,2012年获教育部技术发明一等奖一项,2014年获国家技术发明奖二等奖一项。
