19851988年分别获得南京农业大学土壤农化专业学士、植物营养学硕士学位,2000年获得以色列Hebrew University of Jerusalem植物生物学博士学位。2001年以色列Agricultural Research Organization博士后,2001-2004Weizmann Institute of Sciences博士后。

1988-1995年为南京农业大学助教、讲师、副教授。2004年至今,南京农业大学教授(二级)、博士生导师。2006-2007年南京农大资环学院副院长(主持工作),2007年至今,南京农大资环学院院长。

目前兼任作物遗传与种质创新国家重点实验室副主任,农业部长江中下游植物营养与肥料重点实验室主任,中国土壤学会常务理事、中国植物营养与肥料学会理事、江苏省土壤学会理事长、Chemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture编委(Associated Editor)、Frontiers in Plant Nutrition编委、土壤学报编委、植物营养与肥料学报编委、南京农业大学学报编委等。

被评为全国农业科研杰出人才(2011年),全国百篇优秀博士论文指导教师(2011年),江苏省“333高层次人才第二层次培养对象,"青蓝工程"中青年学术带头人培养对象,农业部作物养分高效生物学研究创新团队带头人,江苏高等学校创新团队"农业资源的生物学利用"的带头人。2012年起享受国务院政府特殊津贴。
